Family Support
Parents play the most active and significant role in their baby's healthy development. Young children learn and grow in strong families where parents are able to successfully face the challenge of caring for their children while meeting their work and other responsibilities. Parent education programs give parents tools to increase their knowledge of early childhood development and positive parenting practices, and home visiting programs help new parents and parents-to-be by providing  education, information, and resources.

Strong families are the foundation of strong communities. Recognizing that parents are a child’s first and most important teachers, Smart Start offers evidence-based programs designed to increase knowledge of child development and support positive parenting practices. These initiatives help caregivers better understand their child’s growth, respond to their needs, and create nurturing environments that foster learning and school readiness.

Programs like Kaleidoscope Play & Learn playgroups provide families with interactive, hands-on experiences that encourage learning through play while building meaningful connections with other families. These playgroups create a welcoming space where caregivers and children can explore together, strengthen social-emotional skills, and develop supportive peer networks within the community.

By building trusted relationships with caregivers, families are linked to services that support stability, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being. Together, these efforts empower families, strengthen parent-child relationships, and create a network of support that helps both children and caregivers thrive during the most critical early years.
